Welcome to
Stargate: Unbound.
In general, I am a person of few words. So, I thought it apt to
call this the 'General' section of the site. This will be the space I use
to announce any future updates to the site itself, additions of new writers and
so forth. You're probably thinking, God, I hope he doesn't prattle on
endlessly. Rest assured, I won't.
This site and RPG are for the writer in all of us...as well as the
dreamer. I've been a member of a number of other RPGs, mostly Star Trek
games, and I have enjoyed them immensely. But, as I said to myself when
the immensely lame 'Voyager' hit the airwaves: The magic is gone. Where's
the 'newness'? The great stories and the equally great characters?
Sadly, it wasn't until UPN debuted 'Enterprise' that TREK got a much needed
infusion of the qualities I mentioned above. I was impressed.
But even though I am still a hard core Trekker, I DO have other interests
in the Sci Fi genre. Most notably of these, Stargate SG - 1. Even
though I liked the movie, I have found that the television has far and away
surpassed its big screen genesis. Thoroughly enraptured, I began to seek
an outlet for the creative writing that I felt others shared with me for the
show. Sadly, I found far too few choices and most of them left something
to be desired.
What was I to do? You guessed correctly, I founded my own Stargate
SG - 1 Play by E-mail Role Playing Game whose site you are now visiting;
Stargate: Unbound. Why 'unbound'? Let me explain.
You see, even though this is what's known as a 'canon' RPG (meaning we
stick to the established facts of the show, for the most part), this doesn't
mean that we can't grow well beyond that. Don't get me wrong, there won't
be any Star Trek or Star Wars crossovers, that would just be an insult to those
two specific brands. But for this game, the only limit is imagination.
'Unbound Imagination', you might say. Thus, the title for this little sci
fi smorgasbord that I hope will do well in the days, weeks, months and
hopefully, years ahead.
So, since you're here already, have a look around. The site is
still being constructed and I am constantly refining or re-doing one thing or
the other, but much is as it will be in the final version. Sure, it's not
as flashy as some other sites out there, but that's not the point, is it?
As I say on other parts of the site, this is a writing platform, first and
foremost. The site is secondary, in my opinion, to the enjoyment we can
all get out of this little venture. So, if you're interested and would
like to get down to some good, decent writing...why not join us?
